When we practice Left Right Breathing (Anuloma Viloma, Nadi Shodhana, Alternate Brain Hemisphere Breath, Alternate Nostril Breath) the corpus callosum has been shown to become very active. The Corpus Callosum is 200-300 millions axons connecting left and right hemispheres of the brain. Images are important in understanding and interpreting our world. These new imaging techniques are magnificent.
There is a brave new world of imaging that is revealing the inner structures of the brain.
CAT: Computerized Axial Tomography
MRI: Magnetic Resonance Imaging
fMRI: functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging
PET: Positron Emission Tomography
and now the new ones….
OCT: Optical Coherence Tomography
DTI: Diffusion Tensor Imaging
DKI: Diffusion Kutosis Imaging

DTI: Diffusion Tensor Imaging (Dorsal View, overlaid on MRI)
This is a map of nerve fibers in the human brain. It was constructed using a special MRI scanning technique called diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) that traces the direction of water flow. Water diffuses along the fatty sheaths around nerve fibers, rather than through them, so tracing water flow in the brain reveals this complex network of fibers.
