Sail and Breathe with Capt. Tom

We can go wherever you want to go. Take 2 - 6 friends sailing someplace magnificent. Practice a little yoga and breathe along the way. It is also possible to hire a full time cook to make the trip as easy as possible.

Sail around the islands of St John, Culebra, Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anguilla, St Barts, Saba, Nevis, The Saints of Guadelupe, Bequia, Mustique, St. Lucia, Grenadines, Carriacou, Grenada, Bahamas, Belize, Athens, Corfu, Croatia, Corsica, Sicily, Tonga, Tahiti, Seychelles, Thailand, and dozens of other locations. There is a company called The Moorings who rents “bareboats” (sailboats without a captain) and offers charters worldwide. The Moorings has a history of offering reliable bareboats in excellent condition.

Capt Tom Gillette has a USCG Master’s 100 ton license. He started sailing professionally when he was 19 years old and has done hundreds of charters, and yacht deliveries all over the Caribbean, East and West Coast.

If you are considering this amazing vacation, look at The Moorings site. Then call Tom with questions 401-499-4942 or email tom@tomgillette.com. Some locations offer gentle sailing and some offer very rough sailing. It depends on the time of year and location.

Costs

Chartering a sailboat is an unforgettable vacation. Living on the water and sailing from place to place is a beautiful dream for many of us. It is also an expensive vacation. Depends on location, High Season versus Low Season. Most people like to split the costs with other couples, family and friends and make it a social adventure.

Your job would be to pull together a group, decide on dates and location. Check on plane flights. Call or text Capt Tom and check his availability. 401-499-4942

Tom offers his services at $360/day plus all travel, transfers, and food expenses. Once a plan is in place, only then put down a deposit on a bareboat charter such as The Moorings. Send Tom a $200 non-refundable booking deposit to reserve his time for that week. As you are estimating costs, in the chartering industry, it is customary to tip the Captain and Cook for excellent service as you would tip service staff in US restaurants.

If you would like a full time cook and another yoga teacher along, Ellen Schaeffer, who happens to be a master yoga teacher, is happy to come for travel and expenses only.

FAQ

Why 2 - 6 people? Why not 10 or more?

2 - 6 people on most bareboat charters makes for an ideal charter, plus captain and possible cook (7-8 people total). More people than that is not recommended.
